Pat Larson with Kindermusik with Pat, in Oak Park, has been named a Maestro by Kindermusik International, the world’s leading publisher of music and movement programs. This puts the program in the top 5% out of over 5000 programs around the world. Pat Larson, owner/director, is an early childhood specialist at Kindermusik. Larson, along with her staff of Licensed Kindermusik Educators, teaches Kindermusik in the Scoville Square building in Oak Park, Illinois.
The Maestro award recognizes excellence in a fast growing program with the goal to bring music to as many children as possible. “The Kindermusik Maestro has a mission: helping children become better learners and helping parents understand how to help them reach their highest potential,” said Scott Kinsey, CEO at Kindermusik International.
Larson joins the elite company of the 300 Maestros identified as the top Educators of the over 5,000 licensed educators in the world who teach Kindermusik’s music and movement curricula. Pat Larson began teaching Kindermusik 6 years ago, continuing the work of Dr. Sally Sloane who taught Kindermusik in Oak Park for 17 years. In the last year, the Kindermusik studio in Oak Park has reached more and more families by offering a variety of class options, including Saturdayafternoon classes, and drop-in classes through the summer and early fall.
“My own children went through the program more than 15 years ago. You can never bring music into a child’s life too early. Children grow and learn so quickly before the age of 5. Kindermusik provides an environment for learning, and a lot of fun! Every child loves music and movement, and we use that to improve language skills, develop focused listening and teach inhibitory control which helps children resist distractions and give a more considered response which sets children up for a lifetime of learning”, said Larson.
The Maestro Program recognizes licensed Kindermusik educators who master one of three levels in early childhood development: fast-growing programs, outstanding community service, and teaching excellence.
Kindermusik International is the world’s leading publisher of music and movement curricula for parents and their children, newborn to 7 years old. More than 5,000 licensed educators use the Kindermusik curricula in more than 63 countries, reaching more than 1 million families. The award-winning books, CDs, games, and instruments are based on more than 30 years of experience creating curricula based on new and proven research in child development, designed to nurture skills in the whole child: cognitive, physical, social, emotional, language and musical.
