A 20-year-old Chicago man was shot multiple times early Monday morning at the Shell gas station, 401 Madison St., according to Oak Park police.

Police report that the victim was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood where he was scheduled to undergo surgery. He reportedly did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 1:42 a.m. on July 4, the victim walked up to the entrance doors of the gas station to pay with cash for the gasoline and was waiting outside for the station attendant to return to the service window. The shooter then appeared and fired several shots at the victim.

Police report that the shooter’s motives are unknown but they believe the victim was followed by the shooter into Oak Park from Chicago.
