Kehar Singh Soodan, 74, died on June 13, 2016. Born on July 15, 1941 in Poonch Kashmir, he was a child of partition. He moved to the United States at the age of 19 and educated himself in Chicago. As a civil engineer, he went on to build the engineering, design, and consulting firm of Soodan and Associates. Passionate about his heritage, he was a respected leader in the Indian community. 

Kehar Singh Soodan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nona Soodan; his children, Ranjit (Aimee) Soodan, Maya (Mark) Mille, and Tarik Soodan; his grandchildren, Sam, Nina, India, and Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ishar Singh and Pritam Kaur. 

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 25 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., in Oak Park. Friends are asked to gather at 10 a.m. for visitation and Kirtan, to be followed by a memorial service at 11a.m.
