Oak Park police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening at the intersection of Austin Boulevard and the I-290 Expressway.

A police news release said two vehicles were stopped at the traffic signal intersection at about 6:20 p.m. on Sunday when passengers in a car traveling south that was stopped at the traffic light exited the vehicle and began shooting at another car stopped in traffic.

A stray bullet hit the window of a third car that also was stopped in traffic. The driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries from flying glass.

Both cars involved in the shooting fled the scene in opposite directions.

Oak Park police shut down the intersection and ramps near the highway for about three hours, according to the news release.
