The 42nd Annual Wright Plus Housewalk on Saturday, May 21 celebrated the Prairie School of Architecture and the place where this uniquely American style of residential architecture was born: Wright’s Oak Park studio. The Frank Lloyd Wright Trust is grateful to the Oak Park and River Forest communities for extending a warm welcome to visitors from around the world who love architecture, design and the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and his fellow studio architects.

Wright Plus would not be possible without the people behind the housewalk. We are grateful to the homeowners who so passionately care for their dwellings and graciously share them on the day of the walk. Wright Plus is a volunteer-driven event. We sincerely thank the more than 550 volunteers who spend hundreds of hours on planning, research and execution so that Wright Plus continues to be the Great American Housewalk.

Our dedicated staff and board extend our gratitude to Wright Plus supporters, our Ultimate Plus guests and our 2016 sponsors: Andersen Windows and Doors, @Properties, Village of Oak Park, Whole Foods Market, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Chicago Trolley, ComEd, Downtown Oak Park, Heritage Tile, Homewerks, Marion Street Market, Tiger Bath, Visit Oak Park, Baird Warner, Community Bank of Oak Park-River Forest, Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation, Sherwin Williams, Vantage Oak Park, Village of River Forest, Meijer, Gagliardo Realty and Weichert Realtors-Nickel Group. We also thank our restaurant partners: Cucina Paradiso, Giordano’s, Hemmingway’s Bistro, Il Vicolo, Little Gem Café, Maya Del Sol, Mickey’s Gyros, Oak Park Brewing Company/Hamburger Mary’s, Petersen’s Ice Cream, and Winberie’s Restaurant and Bar.

Thank you to our Community Partner, the Carleton of Oak Park, official hotel of Wright Plus 2016, as well as Carriage Flowers, Moss Modern Flowers, Westgate Flowers, Garland Flowers, Schereck Designs, Bloom3, The Petal, Good Earth Greenhouse and Sprout Home.

The mission of the Trust is to engage, educate and inspire the public through interpretation of Frank Lloyd Wright’s design legacy and preservation of his original sites for future generations. As owner and steward of Wright’s Home & Studio, the Trust strives to be a good neighbor and a good friend to this community. Our commitment is generously returned by so many friends and partners. For this, we thank you all.

Next year, the Trust will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright’s birth with a lively array of extra programs and events with the Trust’s many cultural partners. The 43rd annual Wright Plus Architectural Housewalk on Saturday, May 20, 2017 will be part of this auspicious celebration. We look forward to once again sharing this memorable event with the community.
