Nominations are open from June 1 through July 15. Visit the Chamber's website for details.

Have you noticed a truly remarkable local business?  Now is your chance to share your experience.

This week, the Chamber of Commerce launches its new Business Spotlight Awards.  Designed to recognize outstanding local businesses, the Spotlight Awards are an opportunity for people to share their stories about the wonderful things happening in the business world around us.

Awards will be given in six categories: Customer Experience, Innovation, Green / Sustainable practices, Integrated Marketing, Investment or Development and Community Character.  Detailed descriptions of each category can be found on our website.

The Chamber team behind the Spotlight Awards chose these categories to represent both our community values and the key success factors we believe are important to running a successful company.  This is not your typical “best of” type popularity contest, but rather a celebration of business people doing things right.

We are calling for nominations from the community between June 1 and July 15.  You may nominate a business through our website, at the Chamber office or at our booth at Day in Our Village this Sunday.  The nomination form is quick – just tell us the name of the business and a little bit about why you believe the business stands out in one of our six categories.

Every business serving the greater Oak Park, River Forest area (including businesses located in our neighboring towns) is eligible.  Businesses do not have to be Chamber members and can be any type of organization: large, small, independent, corporate-owned, franchise or nonprofit.  Businesses only have to be remarkable – and we are confident that there are quite a few that qualify by that measure.

All businesses nominated for a Spotlight Award will be notified in late July.  Business owners will have the opportunity to opt out.  Those interested in being considered for an award will need to accept the nomination and tell us a little more about their work in the specific category.  The Chamber has convened a selection committee which will decide the winners and present the awards at our October 18 Business After Hours event.
