I love the Madison curve. It is a creative way to transform one small piece of Madison Street. What we have now on Madison does not work for anyone except those who want to get across Oak Park as fast as possible. Maybe the curve is not the best answer, but it’s a great idea that needs a closer look. Increased traffic on nearby neighborhood streets is a legitimate concern, but that issue could be mitigated through the judicious use of no-turn signs like we already have on streets like Harlem and North. Let’s turn Madison into a street that is friendly to bikes, pedestrians, and businesses as well as cars. Cars need to share Madison, not own it. Bring on the curve.
