Oak Park Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb is holding a public forum on Wednesday, March 23 to talk about mosquito abatement and public safety.

His guest speaker is Bob Holub, manager of the Des Plaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District.

The forum runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and will be held at the Veteran’s Room of the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake St.

“Spring is almost here and I’m sure we are all looking forward to warm summer nights, which unfortunately also include mosquitos,” Abu-Taleb said in a press release. “Over the years, as more knowledge of the direct link between mosquitos and disease transmission has been established, the district has become an important part of Cook County’s public health efforts.

“I know people are concerned about both mosquito-related illnesses as well as the potential impact of spraying. This is an opportunity for residents to discuss these issues directly with the manager of the mosquito abatement district.”
