Neal C. Davis, 60, a resident of Oak Park for 27 years, died on Feb. 2, 2016. Born in Akron, Ohio to the late Herschel Baker and Virginia Ruth Davis, he graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary Elementary School, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Pioneer High School, Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Michigan State University in East Lansing, where he received his bachelor’s degree in education. He later received his master’s in education from DePaul University in Chicago.
For many years he taught in the Chicago Public Schools. Later he was principal of Edgewood Elementary School in Michigan City, Indiana, and most recently operated his own construction business.
Neal is survived by Sharon, his wife of 24 years, of Oak Park, and his children, Michael, Conor, Sean and Clare, all of Oak Park. He is also survived by his sisters, Moira Roth and Julie Ulrich.
Visitation was held on Monday Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral Mass, 11 a.m. at St. Edmund Church, 188 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park. Interment was private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) are appreciated.
