Tim Collins

Thomas “Tim” Patrick Collins, 62, a longtime resident of Hinsdale and formerly of the Oak Park-River Forest area, died at home surrounded by his family on Jan. 17, 2016. Born in Chicago on June 8, 1953 to Michael and Nancy (nee Barrett) Collins, he was raised in Oak Park, and later in River Forest.

The third of eight Collins brothers, he was a hard worker from a very young age, a work ethic that never stopped until his death. An avid family man, he always enjoyed being around his wife and children and his large extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles, and tons of cousins. He was a loyal friend to all, particularly to his friends from his class at Fenwick High School.

He worked for Binks Manufacturing as a salesman for many years and, more recently, at G4S Nuclear Security Services Corporation.

Tim Collins is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Tim Collins Jr. and Kelly Byrne; six grandchildren; and his seven brothers, Michael M.D., Dennis, Roger M.D., John (“Jack”), Peter, Joseph, and William Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held on Jan. 21 in Hinsdale. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 22 at Oak Park’s St. Edmund Catholic Church. Interment will take place at a later date in Bronswood Cemetery.
