Oak Park Community Bank’s Giving Tuesday initiative raised nearly $20,000 for area charities in 2016.

Contributions from the Dec. 1 fundraiser are going to the following area organizations: Animal Care League, Hephzibah Children’s Association, OP-RF Food Pantry, and Sarah’s Inn. Community Bank matched the donations, up to $1,000 for each organization, according to a news release.

“We are thrilled that people were so generous on #GivingTuesday,” Community Bank President and CEO Walter Healy said in the release. “I’m not surprised; it’s really a reflection of who we are as a community. Those four organizations are vital and provide important resources for all those in need. We encourage everyone to support all of our local nonprofit organizations both during the holiday season and throughout the rest of the year.”
