A Shorewood man committed suicide by diving in front of a CTA Blue Line train at the Austin station on Tuesday night, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The medical examiner reports that Matt Cepela, 24, suffered multiple injuries after jumping onto the tracks.

Police spokesman Dave Jacobson said the police department is conducting an investigation into the death, but there is no indication of foul play.

The police report notes that Cepela lived in the 300 block of Harvard Court in Shorewood.

Jeff Tolman, a CTA spokesman said there was a “medical emergency” at 6:06 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Austin stop that required CTA to temporarily suspend service between the Forest Park and Pulaski stops.
