Rick Carter of Rickshaw Rick’s reminds anyone who is looking for a different kind of Halloween experience that, well, let him tell you (poetically):

Once again it’s time, when shadows grow longer day by day

And some may hide such frightening things, they scare the Sun away!

In this darkness murky truth rises and to us reveals

Another terrifying edition of Haunted Squeals on Wheels!

We’re reasonably sure that this is Oak Park’s only haunted bike tour, which, according to Carter, “returns from the Other Side for a fifth straight year of tales from the dark side of the street.”

But you have a choice of transportation modes, he says.

“Oak Park Segway, Rickshaw Rick’s Tours & Greenline Wheels have segways, rickshaws and bikes ready to spirit you away or you can BYOBike if you feel more safe with your “lucky bike” with the fancy spokes & banana seat. It won’t matter to the Undead.”

Those who survive the tour will receive a treat at Serenitea Tea House (not scary), where the hostess, Tracy, will provide a complimentary dessert with each coffee, tea or hot chocolate purchased.

Tours run through Halloween night — tonight and Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 6 and 8 p.m. On Halloween you have three options, 4, 6 & 8 p.m. Tours last approximately 90 minutes. The cost via rickshaw/segway is $49, via bike, $35.

For more information, call Rick Carter, “chairman of the bikes,” at Rickshaw Rick’s Tours & Taxi, 773-771-3922 cell or text, or visit www.rickshawrick.com.
