Arnoldo Jose Jiron Toruño, 69, died on Aug. 19, 2015, in his Oak Park home, surrounded by his immediate family. Born on Jan. 11, 1946 in Leon, Nicaragua, he graduated from National Autonomous University of Nicaragua in 1969 with a medical degree. In 1971, he moved to the South Side of Chicago, and then to Oak Park in 1977.
He dedicated his career to helping those with mental struggles. After a private practice, he worked for those in the state without access to proper mental health assistance.
A family man and loving father, he married Lylliam Soza in 1966 and the couple had three children. He loved travel, sports, and movies. His family and friends will always remember him as a generous, thoughtful person.
Arnoldo Jiron Toruno is survived by his wife Lylliam Jiron, and his three children, Juliet Brava, Arnoldo J. Jiron, and Carolina J. Fenske, all of Oak Park. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnoldo Jiron Icaza, and his mother, Yolanda Jiron (Toruño), of Leon, Nicaragua.
A memorial was held Aug. 30, at Cucina Paradiso, 814 North Blvd. in Oak Park.
