The popular Oak Park food truck, The 206, is now parked permanently. Late last month, the waffle connoisseurs officially opened the highly anticipated brick-and-mortar espresso bar and waffle shop at 818 S. Oak Park Ave. Earlier this year, the business launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the move.
“We’re really much busier later on in the day and in the morning,” said owner Valentino “Tino” Ganacias. “The weekends have been chaos. It’s been awesome.”
Although the truck hasn’t been completely retired, Ganacias said the shop is currently his priority.
“We still have the truck, but it’s kind of in hibernation right now. We’re trying to figure out what to do with it next. It’s a lot to manage. It works if I work it alone, but doesn’t quite work the same, in terms of profitability, if I staff it with two people. We’re going to hang onto it for now and see what happens, but right now we’re focused on being here.”
The shop is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.
