Downtown Oak Park’s popular summer event, Art dans la Rue (Artin the Street) is back! Marion Street transforms into an urban French street festival for participants to celebrate a day full of art, film, food, wine, music, dance and all things authentically European. Art dans la Rue will take place Tuesday, August 4 Downtown Oak Park on Marion Street between Lake Street & North Blvd.
Oak Park Art District & Oak Park Art League artists provide a European backdrop for the festival with their artwork on display to purchase or admire. The French-love continues at the First Tuesday Film Club’s showing of La Vie En Rose at 12PM and 7PM – movie tickets are available online or at Lake Threatre, 1022 Lake Street.
Other European-themed activities throughout the day include outdoor café dining, wine tastings and a poodle parade. Crepes, fresh-cut flowers and berets will add extra French flair. Local retailers including HooDoo Headwear, CarefulPeach Boutique, Sugarcup Trading, Sugar Fixé Pâtisserie, Polished Nails and Day Spa, The Little Gem Restaurant Bar and Lemonmade Style & Snips will also be showcasing French goods and services. Francophiles will be serenaded by Claudia Hommel from 1-3pm, lePercolateur from 3-5pm, followed by Paris Swing from 6:30-9pm. There will also be special performance by Tina’s Can Can Cabaret dancers from 5-6:30pm.
