Beef house burglarized
Michael’s Beef House, 6747 W. North Avenue, was the target of an attempted burglary between 10:18 p.m. on June 18 and 8 a.m. on June 19, according to Oak Park police.
The burglar broke the north side window to gain entry to the business. Once inside, they pried the register open only to find it empty. The loss due to damage was estimated at $2,600.
Burglary
Three boys between the ages of 14 and 17 were seen entering Longfellow Elementary School, 715 Highland Ave., through an unsecured side door at 1:32 p.m. on June 20, Oak Park police reported. The three then took several items of clothing from the lost and found. They were last seen headed westbound on Jackson Boulevard.
Theft of motor vehicle
A 1997 maroon Dodge Caravan owned by a Chicago resident was stolen from the 900 block of North Austin Boulevard on June 19, according to Oak Park police. The theft occurred sometime between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. No additional information was given.
Recovered stolen motor vehicle
A red 2005 Chrysler Town & Country that was stolen in Chicago on June 12 was recovered by Oak Park police in the 500 block of South Taylor Street at 4:13 a.m. on June 20, Oak Park police reported.
Burglary to motor vehicle
A 2008 Chevy Impala owned by a St. Louis resident was burglarized in the 300 block of North Austin Boulevard sometime between 11 p.m. on June 19 and 8 a.m. on June 20, according to Oak Park police.
The burglar shattered the front passenger window to gain entry to the vehicle. They then stole a Sirius XM receiver, CDs, and a power charger. The combined loss was estimated at $460.
Theft
A bald African-American man standing about 5-feet-9 inches tall and wearing a white shirt, dark pants and carrying a messenger bag stole roughly $270 worth of cash and goods from Prime One Hour Cleaners, 723 Lake St., on June 20 between 11:10 and 11:15 a.m., according to police
The man entered through the back door of the business and took a briefcase containing cash, a check book and postage stamps. The total loss was an estimated $175.
Aggravated battery to peace officer arrest
A 54-year-old Melrose Park man was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer in the 600 block of North Austin Boulevard at 8:40 p.m. on June 18, Oak Park police reported. No additional information was given.
Residential burglary
A residence in the 300 block of South Maple Avenue was burglarized on June 15 between 9 a.m. and 6:50 p.m., according to Oak Park police.
The offender broke the front door window with an unknown object to gain entry to the residence and stole men’s watches, rings and cufflinks.
These items, obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments, came from reports filed June 15-23 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
