Dorothy L. Hart, 74, of River Forest, died on June 4, 2015. Born on Sept. 3, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to Walter and Dorothy Hart, she was raised in Oak Park and was a graduate of Horace Mann Elementary School, Trinity High School, and Rosary College (now Dominican University). She received her master’s degree in French Literature from the University of Notre Dame and became a French teacher at Notre Dame and Georgetown University in Washington D.C. 

After teaching at Georgetown, she and her sister, Deb, went to live in Paris and ended up staying for 14½ years. Upon their arrival back to the states, they resided in New York for the next 12 years and then eventually moved back to their hometown of River Forest. 

Dorothy Hart is survived by her siblings, William (Margaret) Hart, Deborah Hart and Diane (Thomas) Knowles. She was loved by many friends and family members. 

A funeral Mass was held June 8 at River Forest’s St. Luke Church, followed by interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred. Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park.
