David Loevy, 49
David Loevy, 49, of Oak Park, died on May 2, 2015 at Rush Hospital of complications from liver cancer. Born on Oct. 29, 1965 in Oak Park, he was a member of the Oak Park and River Forest High School class of 1983. He graduated from Indiana State University and worked in the travel industry. In addition to his love of airplanes, his passions were music, the Cubs, and the Blackhawks. He could quote details on any of these subjects.
Because of the rarity of his cancer, he donated his body to science.
David Loevy is survived by his grandparents, Barney and Ellen Goldstein; his mother Judy Loevy, aunts and uncle, Jean Mavrelis, Ellen Boyer, and Bob Goldstein; his cousins, Tony Mavrelis, Cristina Mavrelis Frenkel, Maggie Boyer Finch, Barney Boyer, Gabe Boyer, Eve Boyer Firestone, Bobby Goldstein, and Joey Goldstein; and his cousins’ many children who knew him as “Uncle Dave.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Sandy Loevy; and his cousin, Bill Mavrelis.
The family will gather for a private celebration of Dave’s life Memorial Day weekend. Donations to the Avenues of Independence, 515 Busse Highway in Park Ridge 60068 are appreciated.
