Battery

A man was struck in the face by one of four men who confronted him as he walked westbound in the 6100 block of North Avenue at 3:50 p.m. on May 1, according to Oak Park police. 

The victim, a Chicago resident, was confronted by four men in a light colored vehicle. One of the men exited the vehicle and struck the man with a closed fist. 

After being struck, the man ran to the rear of the 100 block of LeMoyne. Police responded to the scene and transported the man to West Suburban Hospital.

 Criminal trespass to property

An 18-year-old Oak Park man was arrested on May 1 for allegedly breaking into the common area of a residential building on the 400 block of South Maple at 7 p.m., Oak Park police report. 

Police Officer Michael Lepczynski said the man and three juveniles were found in the common area basement of the building. The three juveniles were from Chicago and River Forest, according to police. 

 Criminal trespass to motor vehicle

A20-year-old Chicago man was charged with criminal trespass to a motor vehicle after he was positively identified as the offender observed inside a black Lexus SUV parked in the 800 block of North Lombard Avenue, according to Oak Park police. 

The arrest took place on May 2 at 3:32 p.m. in the 5800 block of West Augusta in Chicago.

Criminal damage to property

Oak Park police report that a black man in his 40s, weighing approximately145 lbs., with black hair and a ponytail and wearing a red T-shirt and black jeans pushed over a metal shelf and broke a glass door with a fire extinguisher at a BP gas station on the 6100 block of North Avenue. 

The incident occurred at 12:36 a.m., according to police.

 Robbery

Someone described as a black male, about 18 years old, about 5 foot 3 with a thin build and wearing a black skull cap, blue hoodie and red shirt allegedly robbed a Chicago resident, whose gender was not released, in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard, Oak Park, between 12:53 p.m. and 12:55 p.m. on April 27, according to police. 

The offender approached the victim from behind and, after a struggle, stole the victim’s black HTC cellular phone. He fled on Lake Street, according to police.

Theft

A backpack containing a black MP3 player, black headphones and a black wallet was stolen from a business in the 300 block of Madison Street, Oak Park, at approximately 12:58 p.m. on April 27, according to police. The backpack had been left unattended in the lobby of the business, according to police.

 Blanks fired during road rage

Oak Park police report that an approximately 20-year-old man fired a black semi-automatic handgun from outside the driver’s window of his red Chevy Cavalier during a road rage incident that started in the 1300 block of South Harlem Avenue on April 24 at about 4:30 p.m. 

Both the offender and the victim were northbound on Harlem, according to police. Further investigation showed that the rounds fired were blank pistol rounds, according to police spokesman Michael Lepczynski.  

 These items, obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments, came from reports filed April 27 – May 3 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
