We enthusiastically support Sara Dixon Spivy for the District 200 school board. She will bring a strong, pragmatic, and forward-thinking voice to our community. A young woman, attorney, and dedicated mother, she has the energy and long-term commitment to Oak Park and River Forest High School that will help her succeed and drive positive change in our community.

Sara already has demonstrated a unique combination of dedication, compassion, and problem-solving ability during her campaign. She would bring to the board an impressive career at the Cook County Public Defender’s Office and two years on Oak Park’s Liquor Control Review Board. As a volunteer commissioner, she has displayed a thoughtful and thoroughly prepared approach to her work.

We are especially impressed by Sara’s innovative ideas to some of our high school’s toughest problems. Her proposals on restorative justice, bridging the achievement gap, and progressive disciplinary models are exciting and innovative.

As Oak Park village trustees, we also are impressed with Sara’s calls for increased and real intergovernmental collaboration to create fiscal efficiencies and streamline the work we all do.

We urge you to vote for Sara Dixon Spivy on April 7.
