COURTESY OF PRO MUSICA

(Oak Park, ILL-January 10, 2015) – Get ready to — as they said during the 1940s — “have a gas” while the Pro Musica Youth Chorus belts out some classic jazz and swing tunes during the Winter Bash, the group’s annual fundraising party, Jan. 30, from 7 to 10:30 pm, at the Cheney Mansion, 220 North Euclid, Oak Park.

“We are planning a really great evening that is sure to act as an antidote to those middle-of-the- winter blues. Our singers will be entertaining party-goers with a variety of standards from the 1940s and a professional piano player will provide music throughout the night,” said Jennifer Manning, president of the Pro Musica Youth Chorus (PMYC) board. “Party-goers also can look forward to jaw-dropping entertainment from Neil Tobin, Necromancer—one of Chicago’s top psychic and magical entertainers. And, a photo booth will be on site for those wishing to capture some fun memories.”

Best of all, the money raised during this night of fun and frolic will help support PMYC, a community-based, not-for-profit organization that provides rich musical experiences to students ranging in age from 6 to 18. Each year through participation in the chorus, students are provided with the opportunity to learn a wide variety of music from classical to rock to Broadway and more. They also perform with an array of prestigious groups including the Chicago Chamber Choir, Oak Park’s City Voices, and the world-renowned Joffrey Ballet.

“The chorus provides unparalleled music education but that’s not all. It really provides so much opportunity for growth. It’s just amazing to watch how the participation in this group helps these singers develop the discipline and confidence that it takes to succeed not only in music but in so many of life’s endeavors,” Manning says.

Admission to the PMYC Winter bash is $75 for individuals and $140 for couples and includes beer, wine and heavy appetizers – as well as the chance to bid on a variety of auction items.
