River Forest resident Bobbie Gregg announced at a special legislative session Wednesday that she will be stepping down from her post as director of the Department of Children and Family Services Jan. 19.

Wednesday Journal contributing reporter Deborah Kadin reported in August that Gregg joined the department as special assistant to the director in April 2013, was named interim director a year later and was then nominated director of DCFS by Gov. Pat Quinn in April 2014.

According to a recent Chicago Tribune report Gregg was the department’s seventh director in the past three years. Her tenure will not be extended under Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner, who takes office Jan. 12.
