The weeks and months following December’s holiday festivities is when most people usually start to take down the decorations.
While driving from her home in Warrenville to where she works in Oak Park, a woman who cantacted the Journal via Facebook said, “I saw many homes in Oak Park had placed their Christmas trees by the curb for pick-up. But those trees are still useful.”
Other ways to give a tree new life, of course, is to recycle it.
Recycle old holiday lights

The Village of Oak Park’s Public Works Center, 201 South Blvd., is hosting a holiday light recycling drive through January. Drop off old lights, bulbs and extension cords in the lobby from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information call 708.358.5700 or email
