Oak Park police worked with the CTA and Chicago police to arrest and charge a Chicago man in the September robbery and criminal sexual assault of a Forest Park woman on the CTA Blue Line.
Caprice L. Page, 24, appeared before Judge Pamela M. Leeming inside the Maybrook courthouse Friday morning, where his case was continued until Jan. 9. Bond was set at $500,000.
Such continuances are usually made for the purpose of taking a felony case before a grand jury for a superseding indictment.
Page, who is 5-foot-9 and approximately 300 pounds, allegedly boarded an east bound Blue Line train at the Harlem Avenue station around 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, exposed himself to lone woman on train car, demanded she fondle him sexually, and threatened to stab her, implying he had a knife. He then demanded money to allow her stop. He left the train at the Pulaski stop after she gave him $200.
Page has a criminal history dating back to 2008. He was paroled from prison on June 16 after serving four years of an eight year sentence for the June, 2010 robbery of a senior citizen in Chicago.
In August Page was arrested by Chicago police for theft, was convicted and was on placed on probation for that crime despite being on parole at the time.
On Dec. 11 he was again arrested in Chicago and charged with home invasion that caused injury, aggravated criminal sexual assault and robbery. He was ordered held in lieu of $300,000 and has a Dec. 31 court date in that case.
Detective Commander Ladon Reynolds said Oak Park police had been working with the CTA and Chicago police to identify the woman’s attacker. On Dec. 10, Page was arrested for the Chicago home invasion and sexual assault, and investigators their noticed his resemblance to the offender in the Blue Line attack.
A photo lineup was conducted at the 12th district police headquarters, and the victim positively identified Page as her attacker.
“This is just an example of good police work and the benefits of relationships across municipal borders,” Reynolds said. “Oak Park and Chicago police and the CTA worked together to take this violent offender off the street.”
