River Forest, IL-12/10/2014. Patrons of River Forest Public Library will be able to access their favorite digital magazines using Flipster™ from EBSCO Information Services beginning on December 15, 2014. Flipster is a next-generation digital magazine service that allows people to browse the latest issues of high quality digital versions of popular magazines, courtesy of the library.

In addition to our great selection of hardcopy magazines, The Library now provides access to dozens of popular magazines like The Atlantic, Cooking Light, Forbes, People, Real Simple, Rolling Stone, Travel and Leisure, US Weekly and more that you can read on your computer or mobile device.

Flipster offers an easy, browseable reading experience. Users can browse magazines by category as well as perform searches for specific titles. An online newsstand provides a carousel of the most recent issues, as well as a carousel of all issues allowing for quick access to magazines. The table of contents contains links to quickly go to articles of interest and hotlinks within magazines are hyperlinked, opening in separate tabs when clicked. In addition, there is an option to zoom in and out for better readability. All you need is your library card to get started.

“It’s a great tool that we believe will enhance the experience of our patrons,” says Margaret Banerji, the new Manager of Virtual Services at the Library. “We want our patrons to be able to access library services anytime, anywhere, whenever possible.” Margaret has recently assumed this new position at the Library and is charged with expanding digital collections, with Flipster being one of her first acquisitions.

Contact the Margaret Banerji, Manager of Virtual Services at the River Forest Public Library or visit to learn more about accessing the library’s digital magazines through Flipster or other virtual services offered by the RFPL.
