Several holiday themed programs are being offered at the River Forest Library this season with festive fun available for all ages.

The season will kick off on Tuesday, December 2nd at 7 PM with Holiday Foods with Whole Foods Market. Sample delicious bites from their holiday menu and learn how to make a festive holiday mocktail.

No holiday season seems complete without a visit with Ebeneezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit and the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. The Library will be sharing a two-person dramatic re-telling of Dicken’s classic, A Christmas Carol, on Saturday, 12/20, 2 PM.

On Saturday, December 6th, from 2-4 PM, kids in grades 5-8 are invited to the library for the annual card and soap making afternoon, with hot chocolate and cookies to enjoy afterwards. There will also be gingerbread house making for this age group on Friday, 12/19 from 2:45-4 PM.

Of course, no one will want to miss the ever popular Stories with Santa on Saturday, December 13th, from 10 AM – 3 PM.  This annual holiday program for children features stories with the library’s talented librarians, crafts in the meeting room, and visits with Santa upstairs by the fireplace. Bring your camera to have a keepsake of your own! This is a drop-in, free, fun family program.

Young children will also be able to drop-in on Tuesday, December 23rd between 1-5 PM to make a snowflake and all day on 12/29 and 12/30 there will be a Thank You Note Workshop for ages 5 and up.

The River Forest Library will again be collecting toys on behalf of Chicago’s Off the Street Club, after seeing tremendous generosity from the River Forest community last year. New and unwrapped toys suitable for boys and girls between 5 and 18 years old may be dropped off in the Library lobby until December 23rd.

So stop by the River Forest Library this holiday season to take advantage of all the holiday cheer the Library has to offer.
