The annual Veterans Day ceremony, next Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. is moving indoors. The annual commemoration of the end of World War I (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month) will take place at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave. Sen. Don Harmon and Village President Anan Abu-Taleb will join Virginia Cassin in welcoming anyone who attends.
The day, of course, now honors all veterans and this year is particularly commemorative with the ongoing observance of the Civil War, which was being fought 150 years ago, and World War I which began 100 years ago. Attendees will hear patriotic songs and pray for peace with local clergy.
The event is free and open to the public.
