Roy H. Kallas, 96, died peacefully in his River Forest home on Oct. 12, 2014.
Born in 1918, he was an engineer by training, who began his own engineering firm in Melrose Park.
While not a military veteran, he was proud to have had supported the military with his engineering background and assistance with design and manufacturing of items needed during World War II.
He was an active member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Oak Park.
Mr. Kallas is survived by his son, Robert, and his grandsons, James and Michael. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Meta Kallas, and more recently by his second wife, Dr. Emerita Alcantara-Kallas, who passed away in June 2014; and his son, William Kallas.
A funeral service, presided by Pastor Kathy Nolte of Good Shepard Lutheran Church, was held on Oct. 17 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Forest Park. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery.
