Gary Nebiolo was a “restaurant vagabond” – working at five different restaurants in five years – before beginning a 33-year stint at Winberie’s Restaurant and Bar.

Nebiolo, an Oak Park resident, has become a well-known face in the village due to his decades-long tenure as general manager of the restaurant. But Nebiolo announced this week that he will be leaving Winberie’s to return to Parkers Blue Ash Tavern, a steakhouse and American Fare restaurant in suburban Cincinnati that he helped open in 1981.

Like Winberie’s, Parkers Blue Ash Tavern is one of a dozen restaurants owned by Cleveland-based Select Restaurants, Inc. Nebiolo has been with the company for more than 35 years.

“I will miss the community and all that Oak Park stands for, and I will proudly let everyone know where I have hung my hat all these years,” Nebiolo said in an email. “I was a restaurant vagabond before I arrived in Oak Park. I assumed that I would be in and out of the community in a short time. I can happily say that I guessed wrong.”

Longtime dining room manager David Roberts has been promoted to general manager.

“For 19 years, David has contributed to the success of Winberie’s in Oak Park in various management roles – most recently through his management of the service team,” Will Green, vice president of Select Restaurants, Inc., said in a press release. “Select Restaurants is confident that David will continue to provide the quality dining experience that our guests in Oak Park have come to expect at Winberie’s.”
