We would like to thank all those who helped make the Oak Park middle schools’ Mile in the Middle this past Sunday morning a fantastic event. Approximately 200 middle-schoolers participated in this PTO-sponsored event celebrating wellness and school/community spirit.

Many thanks to our sponsors: Shriners Children’s Hospital, Energy Tees, the Sachem Company, GoGoGo Fundraising, Bike Fix, the Tennis and Fitness Centre, Body by G, Greenline Wheels, Park District of Oak Park, Ahimsa Yoga, Community Bank of Oak Park-River Forest, Carriage Flowers, Brown Cow Ice Cream, Lou Malnati’s, Book Table, Sugar Cup Trading, Red Mango, Buzz Café, Metropolis Coffee, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods.

We had a fabulous team of parent volunteers who worked in the months leading up to the run and many more enthusiastic volunteers the day of the race, who provided smooth check-in, a safe race route for our kids, and a rocking after-party.

We also want to thank the District 97 Wellness Council, Flipside Academy, and DJ Mick for making our after-party educational and fun.

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the wonderful community-wide collaboration between the Brooks and Julian PTOs and parent communities, D97 administration, Brooks and Julian principals and P.E. teachers, the village of Oak Park, and the Oak Park Police Department.

Finally, special thanks to the over 200 middle-schoolers who participated in the event. You were awesome!
