Oak Park police officers would get a four-year union contract with the village and annual wage increases under a measure approved Monday by the village board.
Village Manager Cara Pavlicek said in an interview, following a closed-door session of the village board, that she is still unable to give details on the contract until officials from the Oak Park Fraternal Order of Police sign the document.
She did reveal, however, that the four-year contract is one year longer than the contract that expired in January and includes wage increases of 2.25 percent in 2014 and 2015, 2.5 percent in 2016 and 2.75 percent in 2017.
The current contract, which started in January 2011 included wage increases of 2 percent in 2011 and 2012 and 2.5 percent in 2013.
Pavlicek said the wage increase for 2014 will be paid retroactively to roughly 90 police officers represented by the union.
Pavlicek said she anticipates the union will approve the contract this week.
“I think they’re as eager as we are to complete the paperwork and have it done and provide that to their members,” Pavlicek said.
