An armed man held a homeowner at gunpoint in his backyard in the 200 block of Clinton Avenue around 4:15 p.m., Monday, while accomplices emptied his ATM account at a bank nearby. The victim said his wife, children and nanny were inside the house while the robbery took place. The gunman threatened to kill him and then go into the house.

Police arrived in minutes, the homeowner said, but the group had already fled in an unspecified vehicle.

The victim emailed a warning to neighbors to remain vigilant.

“It could have been any of you, gardening, playing with your kids in the backyard, grilling out, eating on your patio, walking to your garage, unloading groceries from your car,” he wrote. “I am fine but concerned for the ongoing safety of my two kids as [the criminals] know my bank balance and where I live.”

Oak Park police were not immediately available to comment on the incident.
