On May 17 and 18, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust continued its year-long Legacy Year celebration with the All Wright Housewalk, featuring eight private homes and three public buildings, all designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio and the 40th anniversary of the Trust, an organization born in Oak Park to preserve Wright’s home and studio. Thanks to the Oak Park-River Forest community, the 40th annual housewalk was a triumph of community collaboration.

Our gratitude goes to the owners of Frank Lloyd Wright homes who so passionately care for their historic dwellings and graciously share the fruits of their labor, much to the delight of the Wright aficionados worldwide who attended the 2014 housewalk. We appreciate the hospitality of the neighbors who welcome our guests. Without the volunteers who organize this wonderful event, this annual architectural housewalk would not be possible. Their hundreds of hours spent on planning, research and execution make the housewalk a memorable event.

Our dedicated staff and board extend our gratitude to the All Wright supporters, our Ultimate Plus guests and our 2014 sponsors: Baird & Warner, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Illinois, Boiler Pros, Chicago’s Chicken & Waffles, Chicago Trolley and Double Decker Co., Community Bank of Oak Park-River Forest, Cucina Paradiso, Downtown Oak Park, Flat Top Grill, Geppetto’s Pasta & Pizza, Giordano’s Restaurant & Pizzeria, Greenline Wheels, Hemmingway Bistro, Heritage Tile, Hyatt Place Chicago-South/University, Il Vicolo, Marion Street Cheese Market, Maya Del Sol, McGrath Automotive Group, Mickey’s Gyros, NICOR Energy Efficiency, Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation, Petersen’s Ice Cream, Piccolo Mondo, Pork Chop Hyde Park, Visit Oak Park, Whole Foods Market and Winberie’s Restaurant and Bar.

Thank you to our community partners, the 19th Century Charitable Association and the Carleton of Oak Park, official hotel of All Wright 2014. Our thanks also to the florists whose donated arrangements grace the tour homes: Carriage Flower Shop, Good Earth Greenhouse, Moss Modern Flowers Ltd., Blumgarten & Co., Schereck Designs, Tulipia and Westgate Flowers and Carolynn Hunt.

The Trust’s mission is to engage, educate and inspire the public through the architecture, design and legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright. The funds raised during the housewalk allow us to preserve the Home & Studio and our other museum sites for future generations, as well as offer stimulating youth, family and adult education programs.

We will continue to celebrate our Legacy Year with a special event, Founders Day, on June 17, when we honor our volunteers and the Trust’s birthday. On July, 17, 18 and 19 we will invite the Oak Park-River Forest community to attend complimentary evening tours of the Home & Studio.

Next year, the 41st annual Wright Plus Architectural Housewalk will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015. We look forward to once again sharing this memorable event with the community.
