Oak Park Elementary School District 97 is poised to appoint new principals for Mann and Whittier elementary schools on May 13.

One of the appointments is an internal candidate, said Supt. Albert Roberts Friday.

There’s still some background checking and site visits are scheduled with the external candidate, but both will be brought forth at Tuesday’s school board meeting, Roberts said. He declined to identify either candidate prior to the meeting.

The board is scheduled to vote on the appointments on May 27.

Roberts said committees from both Oak Park schools have had opportunities to interview each candidate. They will replace outgoing principals Sam LeDeaux at Mann and Carol Young at Whittier.

Young is retiring. LeDeaux resigned in March, but is staying on through the end of the school year.
