Ivan R. Powers Jr., of Huntley, 86, formerly of Oak Park, died on Jan. 15, 2014. Born in Iowa on March 4, 1927 to Dr. Ivan Sr. and Dorthea (nee Herman), he was a proud member of the U.S. Navy, having enlisted as a medical corpsman. When his enlistment was up, he became a traveling medical equipment salesman. He was also an avid model ship builder and die-hard Green Bay Packers fan.
Van Powers is survived by his children, Barbara (Michael) Tramte, Douglas and Scott from his first marriage to Terri (nee Frank); his granddaughters, Jamie (Jon) Brassfield and Caitlin (Steve) Tramte; his great-grandchildren, Adah, McCartney, Zanna and Obidiah Brassfield; his niece, Mary Gallagher; his nephew, John McGovney; his great-niece, Christine (Alberto) Mendez; and his great-nephews, Michael (Melissa) Lennox Jr. and Matthew Gallagher. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Theodore; his first wife, Theresa; and his second wife, Mary Lou (nee Whitaker).
