Oak Park, IL – Every aspiring musician’s dream is to perform live on stage in front of crowds of people. This winter marks the very first full show season for the Oak ParkSchool of Rock. The local leader in performance-based music education is giving its students a chance to play their hearts out on stage at Wire, Fitzgerald’s and the Cobra Lounge.

By inspiring the world to rock on stage and in life, School of Rock’s over 120 locations transform the lives of kids and adults through music. School of Rock performance-based music schools offer lessons in guitar, bass, keyboard, drums and vocals. Genres of music studied include, Rock, Reggae, Motown, Blues, Pop, Metal, etc. The schools offer individual lessons and performance classes, summer camps and workshops. In addition to individual private music instruction, students also learn how to jam with their peers in a weekly practice session. The team dynamic creates an environment where kids feel inspired to excel and eventually, get the amazing opportunity to perform together as a rock band in front of live audiences.

Students from the Oak Park School of Rock perform Pink Floyd’s THE WALL in its entirety. The story of frontman Syd Barrett’s mental collapse is chronicled through this sweeping, semi-autobiographical concept album that incorporates classic rock, blues, psychedelic rock, and includes hits such as “Another Brick in the Wall,” “Comfortably Numb,” “Young Lust,” and “Hey You.”

Green Day

Saturday, Jan. 25th and Sunday, Jan. 26th

Our youngest, but equally as dedicated and hard working musicians perform a tribute to Green Day at Cobra Lounge!

“We’ve found that live performances are one of the best ways for serious young musicians to get a taste for what a professional career in music is like,” said School of Rock CEO, Chris Catalano. “We are honored to have students of such high caliber rocking out on stage and letting their creativity shine.”

The performances will give Oak Park students the opportunity to show off their skills in front of crowds of music-lovers, friends and family. School of Rock creates a supportive and motivated environment where music students of all skills levels are comfortable yet challenged at every turn.
