[OAK PARK, IL] – The Get Covered America campaignto connect more than a million uninsured Illinoisans to new, affordable health insurance is going local — in a big way. On Wednesday, Dec. 11. we’re officially opening the Get Covered America office in Oak Park at 1048 Pleasant St. from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This office will be a major hub of our grassroots organizing efforts as we go door-to-door, attend community events, and get the word out about quality, affordable health insurance available in Illinois.

More than 1.4 million Illinoisans have access right now to quality health insurance that fits their needs and their budget — but we know it is a community effort to make sure consumers have the information they need to get covered. Get Covered America staff and passionate volunteers are going to church services, hair salons, coffee shops and everywhere else people are gathered to start the health care conversation and help consumers get the information they need to get enrolled in insurance. The new office will be central to Get Covered America’s continuing efforts to empower neighbors to talk to neighbors.

During Wednesday’s office opening there will be an update on the Get Covered America campaign outreach efforts across Illinois. Many of Get Covered America’s partners will be in attendance to talk about why a grass-roots campaign is the right approach to help consumers get covered. Attendees will also get a sneak preview of the campaign plan though the end of March.
