Save your pity for the guy who works construction or unloads trucks. When he blows out his knees, IF it was on the job he might get Workmen’s Comp, but when that runs out he’s done, and like DRose he has to rely on his high school education to find a non- manual labor job. DRose is in a similiar position except he’s guaranteed a 100 million dollars over the next 5 years.

It is true that he will never realize his dream of playing in the NBA and winning an MVP award. Oh. He did that dream. OK. He won’t ever be able to get married, have kids, live in a nice house, drive nice cars, go on cool vacations, and spend time with his friends and family. Oh. He can do that too.

But he won’t ever be able to be the greatest player of all time or be inducted into the Basketball HOF. True. I feel his pain. I wanted to be President of the United States. Never did it. But I did become President of the Huskie Booster Club.

More I think of it Derrick is in a pretty good spot compared to his Simeon high school team mates, or ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD.
