Village President Anan Abu-Taleb and Village Trustee Adam Salzman invite Oak Park residents to attend the second public forum at Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid, on Tuesday, October 8th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. These public forums provide villagers an opportunity to discuss the issues they care about most directly with President Abu-Taleb and Trustee Salzman.
October’s forum will begin with an opportunity for residents to voice concerns about development plans at Lake and Forest – an important issue to many residents and President Abu-Taleb. “Lake and Forest represents a clear opportunity to bring business to Oak Park, broaden the tax base and relieve some of the financial burden on residents,” said President Abu-Taleb. “But the lack of progress at the site is unacceptable, and the Board must act to encourage development in a manner that stays true to Oak Park’s values.”
“The Board has a big decision to make this fall on economic development. Are we going to continue down the same path that led us to our present situation? Or will we change our strategy?” Trustee Salzman said. “We can’t answer questions this important unless we hear directly from our residents, without constraints or time limits. I am really pleased that this forum will provide that opportunity.”
After listening to residents’ views on Lake & Forest, President Abu-Taleb and Trustee Salzman will answer questions from the public on issues of their choice. Prominent issues currently in front of the Board include changes to the parking regulations and adoption of a comprehensive plan for Oak Park.
Please come and join your neighbors for a lively and informative discussion.
