Mildred “Mitzie” T. DeVilbiss, 83, a longtime Oak Park and Forest Park resident, died on Sept. 4, 2013. Born on April 6, 1930 in Quincy, she received her bachelor’s degree from Quincy University in 1952 and went on to her master’s in education from Chicago’s Loyola University. She was a member of St. Edmund Church and sang in its choir.

A baseball fan who loved the Chicago Cubs, she was also a world traveler. An active member of the Forest Park Senior Center, she enjoyed all of its various outings with her friends.

Mitzie DeVilbiss is survived by her siblings, Phylis, Charles (Kathleen), and the late Rita Cramsey and Mary Pierce; 17 nieces and nephews; and many, many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Visitation was held on Sept. 6 at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home in Forest Park. A funeral Mass at Oak Park’s St. Edmund Church was celebrated on Sept. 7. Interment was private.
