Due to the popularity of “Chasing Ice” during the One Earth Film Festival, Green Community Connections has arranged for a return engagement! “Chasing Ice” follows the acclaimed National Geographic photographer James Balog through his astounding journey to document the shocking rate at which our planet’s glaciers and ice caps are disappearing. This multi-award winning documentary will be shown on Saturday, April 27th at 10:30 AM at 1022 Lake Street, in Oak Park. Tickets are $6 and are available at the Lake Theatre box office and online at www.classiccinemas.com.
Once skeptical of climate change, James Balog discovers devastating and undeniable evidence of our changing planet through his Extreme Ice Survey that takes him through truly brutal conditions. Balog and his team put themselves in constant physical danger to place and update the time-lapse cameras that track the melting of ice caps, compressing years into minutes to illustrate the drastic melting of glacial mountains. The resulting footage is breathtaking; and the global implications are shocking.
