The Fenwick boys water polo team suffered its first defeat of the season with a 9-8 loss in overtime to St. Louis University High School at the York Invitational.

The good news is Fenwick heads down to St. Louis this weekend for a tournament where they’ll likely see SLUH again.

Tony Perez, Matt Bresnahan, Andrew Bertschy and Trevor McLean each scored two goals apiece for the Friars, who went 3-1 in the tournament.

Fenwick slipped past cross-town rival OPRF 9-7 for the second time this season. Danny Farmer, Bresnahan and Perez scored two goals apiece in that win. Omar Calderon, McLean and White added one apiece.

“Good thing it’s only April,” said Fenwick head coach Kyle Perry. “The defense looks like it’ll take until May to be where we think we can be.”

Fenwick also secured a 13-7 win over the host and a 16-5 victory over Loyola. Bresnahan led the charge in both wins, scoring four goals against York and five against Loyola.
