An 18-year-old Oak Park woman was charged with “social hosting” an event at which alcohol was available to minors in the 600 block of N. Kenilworth Ave. around 11:30 p.m. on March 16.
A cellphone was stolen around 7 a.m. in the 800 block of Lake Street on March 12.
About $175 was stolen from a cash box in an unlocked storage area of a business in the 1000 block of Lake Street around 4 p.m. on March 12.
A cellphone and iPod were removed from an unlocked gym locker at Oak Park and River Forest High School around 3:30 a.m. on March 15.
An unattended purse was removed from a restaurant booth in the 100 block of N. Harlem around 10 p.m. on March 14.
Someone broke into a garage in the 100 block of Harrison between 8 and 10 p.m. on March 12 by opening a door with a pry tool. A vehicle was ransacked and a men’s Trek Hard Rock Mountain bike was removed.
Two locked vehicles parked in a garage in the 700 block of Lyman had their windows shattered and were ransacked, the evening of March 14. Removed were a Garmin GPS unit, two cellphone chargers and an iPhone radio adapter.
Two garages in the 700 block of Humphrey were burglarized overnight March 14. Someone broke a window on a vehicle parked inside and ransacked the car in one instance and a car was ransacked and garage door opener stolen in another.
Someone entered a garage in the 1000 block of S. Scoville, March 14-16, and removed three black office chairs, a “sawzall” cutting tool and a 6-foot aluminum ladder.
Pot possession at the high school
Two teens, male and female, were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis at Oak Park and River Forest High School on March 15. They were released to their parents.
A 16-year-old River Forest teen was picked up in the 500 block of N. Scoville and arrested for possession of cannabis, then released to his parent on March 15.
Roughly 34 feet of copper downspouts were stolen from a house in the 1200 block of Fair Oaks, March 10-12.
On the same block, 10 feet of copper downspout was also stolen March 12.
Someone hurled a flower pot through the 4 x 8-foot plate-glass window of a residence in the 200 block of N. Kenilworth Ave. overnight March 16. Damage was estimated at $2,000.
Police arrested a 21-year-old Hillside man and charged him with criminal damage to property after he was identified as the offender who broke a window at a business in the 6500 block of North Ave. on March 17.
A 32-year-old Oak Park man was arrested for aggravated assault and criminal damage to property in the 900 block of S. Cuyler Ave. on March 17.
These items, obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments, came from reports filed March 11-17 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
