As a representative of River Forest Voice, I attended the District 90 candidates meeting at Concordia University on Feb. 21, sponsored by the River Forest Service Club and the League of Women Voters. I was impressed by the overall quality of the men and women who presented themselves as candidates.
The five individuals vying for four board seats are Patrick Meyer, Roman Ebert, Ann Gottlieb, Teresa Peavy, and David Lathram. Ebert, Lathram, and Meyer are incumbents. The other two candidates, Gottlieb and Peavy, have volunteered many hours of service to the schools, and are obviously well motivated and competent individuals.
River Forest is fortunate to have a surfeit of talented citizens willing to take on what is, in my opinion, the most difficult job in local government — service on a school board.
After listening carefully and reviewing my notes, I am inclined to support the incumbents because of the years of experience and knowledge they have accumulated while serving on the board.
As for the last seat, River Forest voters can vote with confidence for either Ms. Gottlieb or Ms. Peavy.
