I enjoy supporting local shopping initiatives, especially ones that benefit the greater good. For many years, one of those opportunities has been the Joyful Harvest Fall Market supported by Grace Lutheran Church’s women’s organization.

The market profits help benefit Lutheran Child and Family Services, world wide benevolent causes and Walther Lutheran High School. And it’s heartening to know that my hunt for the ultimate bargain, the perfect vintage find, is helping others.

Lucky for all of us, I was able to get a sneak peek at some of those vintage wares and bargain finds. I plan on starting early the first day of the market to make sure I get the vintage prints. And of course the addition of the kids fair means I get to make my obsession with shopping a family fun event.  I’m sure I’ll see some of you there.

Women @ Grace welcome all to Joyful Harvet Fall Market on Nov. 2 and 4

Enjoy gracious hospitality, great food, and lots of shopping at Grace Lutheran Church’s Joyful Harvest Fall Market, Friday and Sunday, Nov. 2 and 4. Shoppers will find handmade crafts and gifts, candles, holiday decorations, “attic treasures,” used books, baked goods, and much more. A family dinner will be served on Friday evening, 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, with brunch on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Coffee will be served all day on Friday, with box lunches available between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 pm.

The sale is hosted by Grace’s women’s organization, once called “The Women’s Society” and now known as Women @ Grace. And of course, there will be plenty of men as well as women involved in the kitchen and in the various sales booths and activities.

New this year is a Kid’s Fun Fair on Friday evening, 5:00-8:00 p.m., with face-painting, games and crafts for children accompanied by a parent.

The Market raises funds for Women @ Grace benevolences, including Lutheran Child and Family Services’ Uptown Ministries, Walther Lutheran High School, and projects in developing countries.

Grace Lutheran Church is located at 7300 Division St. in River Forest. Tickets for the meals are available at the door, or in advance at www.graceriverforest.org. For more information call 708-366-6900,
