The Trinity volleyball team downed Evanston Township 25-16, 25-11 to win its own Class 4A Regional Championship on Thursday night.

Mikayla Leyden led the Blazers with eight kills, 17 digs, an ace, and a block. Jacque Kibir-Evans added six kills, to go along with three aces. Ashley Klauss also tallied six kills, four digs and two blocks. Madi Creaden dished out 19 assists in the victory.

Trinity advances to take on Niles West in the Niles North Sectional semifinal on Tuesday (7 p.m.).  

The Blazers (23-8) made history last week by placing third in the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (Red Division) Tournament. It was the best finish for a Trinity volleyball team in the history of the tournament.

Kibir-Evans, Klauss, Leyden and Creaden all earned Red Division All-conference honors.
