Our household recently received a letter from U.S. Senator Kirk (R) explaining in a convoluted, hidden way that he has voted to decrease food stamps for the poor in order to balance the budget. This man is on the Senate Banking Committee. What we should see from him is a proposal like that of Rep. Danny Davis (D-7th), HR6411, a small tax on the purchase of stocks, bonds, futures, etc.

What has America become? To balance our budget on the backs of starving people when Wall Street still sits fat and comfortable? Who is Kirk really?

Let me add that I own a good deal of these assets that would be taxed. There is no excuse for “us” who are comfortable to put the balancing of our national debt on the backs of families and children who don’t even have enough to eat.
