The Animal Care League is participating in a unique adoption event geared towards saving the lives of more than 100 dogs in a single weekend.  ACL will be transferring in dogs from rural Oklahoma over the next week for an adoption event to be held on October 27th and 28th in partnership with Petco Foundation and TAILS Humane Society.  The adoption event will be held at the Petco stores in Elmhurst and Schaumburg.

ACL is in need of TEMPORARY foster homes for these dogs.  The dogs will arrive approximately starting October 18th or 19th.  The dogs will need homes for a LITTLE OVER 1 WEEK.  That’s it.

While all these dogs have been pre-screened and there have been no signs of aggression, interested foster families need to remember, ACL doesn’t know much about them. Many will not be housebroken as they live on the ends of chains outside or in dilapidated doghouses. Most will be pretty skinny, which is not an issue. The crucial fact is that these dogs are really in need.

This is NOT a long term foster home commitment for the shelter.  For this project, we just need homes for a week or so.

All dogs have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped.  If you would like to be a foster or learn more, there is an informational/training session on Monday October 15th at the shelter – 7pm to 8:30pm.  Please RSVP to if you plan to attend the session Monday night.

Animal Care League is located at 1011 Garfield, Oak Park, IL.
