Tuesday deadline to register to vote
Tues., Oct. 9, is the deadline to register to vote in the November election. The deadline applies to new residents, residents who have recently moved and individuals who will be 18 years old by Election Day, Nov. 6. Registration is offered from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Mon. – Fri., at Village Hall, 123 Madison St., as well as from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Oak Park Township, 105. S. Two types of identification are required, at least one with the current address. A driver’s license or picture ID is preferred, along with an additional item such as a lease or utility bill. Triton family fest is Saturday
Triton College’s annual Fall Family Fun Fest returns to the college’s Botanical Gardens on Sat., Oct. 6. The free event, scheduled for 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., will include games, a pumpkin patch and straw maze. Face painting, jewelry making, cupcake decorating, a ball toss game, family portraits and pumpkin painting also are planned. In addition, food and beverages will be sold. Health care available to low-income residents
Area residents caught in the gap between eligibility for public health insurance programs and having private insurance are urged to investigate Access to Care, a program serving uninsured low-income individuals in suburban Cook County. The program provides affordable diagnosis and treatment to individuals and families for a small co-payment per visit, procedure or prescription medication. Eligibility requirements include a family income below 200 percent of the federal poverty level, no health insurance or a deductible of $500 or more per person.
